So Guy and Ceria go to interview Jesse's parents who live in the government estates. When they reach there, they bump into Dragan Gothmore who happens to be with 4 guards. Dragan still doesn't know that Guy is not a colonel in the army (see past posts). In the house are Jesse's parents, their son and Carlyle. Carlyle tells Jesse's parents that they have the help of the Saduca. Jesse's shrew of a mum tells Guy and Ceria that the last time she saw Jesse was at dinnertime with her and her son where Jesse left unhappily. Alechem was with her at the time. Guy and Ceria return to the college to inform Rhombur of their findings. Rhombur and Shando tell them that Jesse's condition has stabilised.

Before deciding to look for Caradil Bugbottle (Jesse's uncle, reknowned bard and former owner of Alechem), Rhombur tells the rest that an estate guard claims to have seen Jesse leave home with Alechem that night with a young, male gnome named Otis Earnab who is a noble by right but is also part of a thieves guild. Rhombur instructs the group to get Otis while Ceria and Shando head to question Caradil. The thieves Guild turns out to be under the Cow's Coin. The party is lead through the underground house of ill repute and sneak alot, kill many guards and set of alarms. Guy kills an old man (Jonah Talquin). He argues that it was an accident but only cold hard eyes stare up at him. With time running out, the party finally find Otis and rush back to B.C. Upon seeing Otis, Cerian Cobb grabs the unconscious gnome roughly and brings him to his office.

Shando and Ceria report that Caradil was easily found in a nearby town. Caradil says that he found Alechem in Toridei and that it's only weakness is ice. It loses much of it's power then so whoever managed to subdue it must be well versed with cold spells. He also says that the sword is a part of Jesse. Furthermore, Jesse's mother is now nowhere to be found. Cerian informs the party that it was Otis who beat Jesse up and by Jesse's mum's arrangement was supposed to be married to Jesse. The young gnome also happens to be a mage. As if this wasn't enough, security around the premises have to be stepped up considerably and the group must now take part in guard duty.
